I think you should look at the FLARM messages,
Place you PDA/phone device where you normally use it during flight, start
XCSoar and go to Config>Devices (FLARM selected)>Monitorig
You should now see a new FLARM NMEA sentence coming about once per second.
If it is interrupted, look at the antenna position. Class 2 Bluetooth is
designed for max 30 meters range, it's very low power system. If the
antenna is between metal housings, for example, please move it so, that
there are no metal or carbon fiber objects between receiving and
transmitting antennas. Also place BT module away from radio and radio
antenna cabling, and GPS antenna.
