Good point. I realized the display issue as soon as I hit the Send button.
Will need to give it some thought.
The current PF display manual describes the display of Mode S/C targets as
follows:
"Ranging and altitude separation of aircraft with transponders (Mode-S/C)
are shown as a ring around the current position. The current altitude
separation is depicted on the right side of the ring."
The radius of the ring changes with the estimated range (and zoom setting).

It is a question whether it would be a good idea to overlay this
information the same way on the XCSoar moving map.....
