XCSoar is a fine example of a creative project serving the soaring
community. It seems like some R&D funds for hardware platforms for the
core developers would be a fantastic contribution. I don't know what the
team needs, but a wish list of hardware and a Kickstarter project might be
a great way to get the user community to help contribute. Given the years
of support already put into the product I have no problem contributing to a
fund for the developers to use for hardware acquisition.
