Hi,

If yout set to 4800 you won't have traffic support from flarm.
You have to set to 19200 to get that! ...

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Bluetooth to Serial Converter from ebay, to replace my fried (probably my own fault) K6BT.

I found this device:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RS232-Bluetooth-Serial-Adapter-Communication-Master-Slave-2-Modes-/150846008803?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231f1f6de3

(or search for "RS232 Bluetooth Serial Adapter Communication Master-Slave 2 Modes").

So far, testing has been positive. While i don't have my flarm handy, i've simulated it by sending NMEA data from my PC through the COM port at 4800 Baud. My Android phone connected to the device and is receiving the data as expected.

At $18 USD including postage, it's not a bad buy. It did take about a month to arrive though.

The only downsides with it are:

> You need to change the BAUD rate from the default 9600 to 4800, as a once off > It requires 5v power, which can be supplied via two pins on the device or via the USB port > An RJ45 to Serial cable would need to be used to connect the flarm to the serial port

It is configurable via the serial interface, using a Hayes-like command set (AT+HELP etc). This allows you to change baud, name, pin, etc.

It could be an alternative to the more expensive gliding-specific ones, or as a spare.

Cheers

Luke
