I've noticed that while playing around with an IOIO OTG, that the charge
rate is pretty low.
Looks like it's due to the USB 2.0 standard only allowing 500ma when
connected in data mode. I think the IOIO will provide up to 3000ma if the
device is not in data mode, which i think is when the two data pins are
shorted.
Has anyone flown with the IOIO and larger tablets had any issues with the
500ma charge rate not keeping up? I've noticed the battery draining on my
Galaxy S3 when i'm doing things like running the internal GPS.
I suppose using bluetooth between the IOIO and the tablet, and using a
separate power source for the tablet would be a potential fix.
Perhaps it would be possible to patch the android device to draw more than
500ma on data connections, which would be breaking the USB standard.
