My current wiring is as follows:

I have some chokes on the power leads and keep it all away from the radio.  
Although I say it's noisy i don't believe it's any worse than the 4700 I used 
to have - more likely the voltage converters are the problem.  Much quieter 
when fully charged.

This is basically the same wiring as I used for running the Nook.  When I used 
it with the micro recorder I used connected

 to the 12V and then took the  5V.  output to the usb line. this works, but 
isn't a great solution as you really need to manage the noise, but as I am not 
even slightly capable of doing electronics....  (it's particularly noticeable 
on low radio frequencies but not on all radios)
