Just one tip:
definitely use th possibility to boot from USB Stick -
So you will be able to put the old version on the altair (as fallback)
and the new versions from USB Stick.
I recommand to use the triadis Software to be installed on Altiar, the
newest version from USB)
Please don“t ask me, how I did it, but it worked definitely well when I
was in need to upgrade with a rented
Glider on the nationals...

The old 5.2.2 files are still linked from the main XCSoar site -
download the Altair files from:
http://www.xcsoar.org/download/5.2.x.html
The old version 5 data files are harder to find, but you can download
them from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xcsoar/files/Data/sourceforge.net/projects/xcsoar/files/Data/
Alternatively, Triadis have their own map files (probably same data
source) available at
http://triadis.triadis.biz/downloads/altair/
I have no experience or knowledge about the Altair or other Triadis
hardware beyond the above links, sorry.

Good Morning
For many years I have operated an Altair/Vega/Flarm/Altair Pro
combination. This used XCSoar V5.2.2.
I wanted to fly from another site in Australia and found that the
maps for this version where no longer available or supported.
In an attempt to overcome this I upgraded to V6.6.5. This was
full of problems and when I tried to use the AltairPro the system
crashed.
I have not been able to get the Altair and associated systems to
work well ever since. This has been extremely frustrating and
consumed many pains taking hours.
It has been suggested that to overcome this problem it would be
best to revert to version 5.2.2. I have attempted to do this and
have not been able to download the required install software.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
1.What is the latest stable software version that will allow the
integrated use of Altair Pro?
2.I contacted John Wharrington who has suggested that I contact
Max Kellerman regarding this.
Can someone advise how I can Contact Max?
Regds

Hi Gary,
If I were you I'd update to a recent xcsoar (6.7), and ask for
help on the xcsoar users email list. Max Kellermann has one for
testing.

Good afternoon John,
I make contact with you out of great frustration and now 13 months
of struggling with my Atlair / Vega / Altair Pro / Flarm
combination. In Nov 2012 I went to fly at Narromine and found that
the map file that I got from the net was an had would not was a
".xcm" file.
At that stage I was running version 5.2 something. After much
trouble I discovered that ".XCM" does not work in older versions.
This lead me to upgrade to a 6.4.4 version. Ever since then I have
had difficulty with the Vega, Flarm and Pro Logger.
Can you confirm if the 6 series versions are not compatible with
these units.
It has been suggested that to overcome the problem I should revert
to using Version 5.2.1.8.
I have spent hours trying to download a file that will work in my
altair and can find no way to get it to work.
Have you a 5 series version install file that you could email to
help me around this.
I fly from Lake Keepit and if you have a compatible map file for
this area I would be greatly appreciative
Kind Regds
