I've never tried the thermal assistant, but after Ramy's report I
certainly will.

However, those of you who had been using it: there is a delay of at
least a couple of seconds between the cause (lift, position, speed,
etc.) and the effect (when XCS shows it). I have 2 questions regarding
that: 1. how long is that delay (for the different data sources) and is
that always the same? 2. isn't that delay impacting the value of the
thermal assistant?

For instance: if CAI302 is my data source (GPS, TK, IAS, Baro) how long
does it take until the instrument presents the data on the serial port.
Certainly not instantaneously! And then, XCS presumably does quite a bit
of data processing and filtering. How long does that take?

When I watch the Circling Screen it's obvious that there is a delay of
~3 sec between the actual heading of my glider and the heading of the
symbol on the display. What is that delay for lift, speed, ...?

Any thoughts?
