I tried the new alpha version on the weekend. It registered a plausible wind vector within 30 seconds on aerotow. It was a wave day >70km/h wind. I rely on the wind calculations for ridge and wave flights. I have scanned the change log files for entries related to wind, but some of the entries are very terse. I also looked at the source file patches but I am not 100% sure what algorithm is inside each version. Is there a discussion on the developers list or other source of info on this? (Off topic, I am curious what wind algorithms are inside the Top Hat fork of XCSoar). Does the alpha version log a crash dump file, if so would you like me to upload it in a bug report?
