is it possible to include an xdoclet.xml file, which similar to the xdoclet
core's META-INFO/xdoclet.xml, defines:

<xdoclet-module>
    <taghandler namespace="Class"
class="xdoclet.tagshandler.ClassTagsHandler"/>
    <taghandler namespace="Field"
class="xdoclet.tagshandler.FieldTagsHandler"/>
    <taghandler namespace="Method"
class="xdoclet.tagshandler.MethodTagsHandler"/>
<xdoclet-module>

for when we would like to use custom xxxTagsHandlers for specific modules?

it is possible to define a custom xxxTagsHandler in the core package and
change (in the xdoclet's core META-INFO/xdoclet.xml) the class that a
particular taghandler uses, but then it will be used by all modules, and
although it won't break any functionality of the other modules, the logic
(and associated reference files) in the custom xxxTagHandler are specified
to a particular subtask. just don't want to clutter the core xdoclet .jar
with module-specific stuff.

if it would be possible to include a xdoclet.xml in a subtask's META-INFO
directory and include a listing of only the taghandlers you want to
override (like below), that would be excellent.

subtaskModuleDir/META-INFO/xdoclet.xml
-----------------------------------
<xdoclet-module>
    <taghandler namespace="Field"
class="xdoclet.module.tagshandler.FieldTagsHandlerModuleA"/>
    <taghandler namespace="Method"
class="xdoclet.module.tagshandler.MethodTagsHandlerModuleA"/>
<xdoclet-module>

then when this subtask runs, both

        xdoclet.module.tagshandler.FieldTagsHandlerModuleA
        xdoclet.module.tagshandler.MethodTagsHandlerModuleA

would be used instead of the ones defined in xdoclet's core META-INFO dir.

just an idea...
