Personally I think XDoclet is a great tool and I am usually at the bleeding edge as far as using its features go, so I am always the one waiting for the latest bug fix or feature enhancement to make me happy. :) So I would happily sacrifice multi-lingual docs in favor of faster bug fixing and feature enhancements.
There is an innate problem/feature when it comes to tools like XDoclet. It is open-source, which means it is (for the most part) developed in people's spare time for which they do not get any reimbursement. So if we force new additions to the code to come with docs in multiple-languages then people will either develop the additions they need and not share them, or not develop them at all. Secondly, who is going to produce these additional docs in secondary languages? Most people speak one or two languages at best (most only one), and there are enough users of XDoclet to make it believable that we would need the docs in 5 or more languages to make everyone happy. As the old adage goes - "you get what you pay for". XDoclet is FREE, so either enjoy it and use it as it is, or stop complaining and help make it better. There is nothing I hate more then to see people volunteer their time and then get flamed for their work. If you want the docs in German or Spanish or whatever, then volunteer to help translate them - but then again if you can translate the English, you don't need the other version do you!! The reality is, if you want a product with multi-lingual support that is up-to-date and synchronized with the English version, go BUY some massively over-priced Rational product instead! -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Aslak Hellesy Sent: Wednesday, January 29, 2003 7:12 PM To: xdoclet-user Subject: [Xdoclet-user] OPEN POLL: do you want support for multiple languages in XDoclet?
