I did get the merge working for the bean. I didn't notice that the package
structure is to be implemented with folders for files...it makes sense, but
didn't notice that in documentation.
Here is David's response, it was right on the money.

The ejb name. Try jbosscmp-load-Customer.xml instead of CustomerBean and
see if that works. Also, you have remembered to locate it in the same
package/subdirectory below the mergedir as the class itself, haven't you?
