Title: RE: [Xdoclet-user] New to xDocLet where to begin ?
My understanding so far is, that this comes from a (complete?) lack of documenation of the WS5.x DDs.
Or?

You're going to hate hearing this but . . .

Assuming you're using WSAD 5.1 w/ WAS 5.0, XDoclet won't be of much use.  If
I'm not mistaken (somebody please correct me), WebSphere Application Server
5.0 deployment descriptor requirements aren't yet implemented in XDoclet.
And it doesn't appear that anybody is really anxious to do so.

That's not a knock on any XDoclet committer, it's a reflection of the moving
target that is WebSphere.  For example, I don't think there's any way to
generate any of the *.tblxmi files that WSAD generates in the 'backend'
folder.  Or any of the other *.*xmi files in that folder.  And that's just
one example.  I'm not sure about all the other deployment descriptors
either.  I investigated this heavily in August and found I was at a dead end
with XDoclet and WebSphere 5.0.  With 5.0, you're chained to WSAD.

I just finished 6 months of WSAD/WAS hassle this very day so maybe my anger
and frustration level with WSAD/WAS is still a little high.  If there's
anybody else out there effectively using XDoclet with WebSphere 5.0, I'd
like to hear about it also.

Jeff

Hi,

I am new to xDoclet (1 day old)

I am a J2EE developer using WSAD as my IDE

And the standard development pattern for creating EJB's.

ie. Use the Wizard/tools to
      Create an EAR Project
inside that Create an EJB project
When creating an EJB project, specify the name and type the wizard
will
create the Home/ remote interfaces and the Bean class.

Now add the business methods to the bean class.
      Promote them to Interfaces
       build the project

      the ejb is ready
---------------------

Want to know more (getting started) how xDoclet can aid me in my EJB
development.

Any documentation ?
URl ?

thks in adv.
