I'm sorry to be such a bother on this mailing list. I just wanted to update you. I think I'm making some progress. I'm prototyping with Beanshell and I've figured out how to get a reference to an XClass and add tags to it. I think I know how to stream the modified file back to disk too. (XClass.save(java.io.File rootDir)?) That's the jest of what I think I need so far.I may make use of the isA methods in XClass too as well as some other stuff. It doesn't seem to difficult so far. Thanks for all of your help!

Konstantin,
I tried running ant under xdoclet-all/xdoclet but I keep getting a bunch of erros saying that Iit can't resolve symbols from the XJavadoc package. I'm gonna put this on the back burner for now and just try to study the code directly. I jsut thought it would be easier for me to look at the app before hand so I could understand the flow a little better. Interesting that you said the Ant build uses maven automatically. The readme under the xdoclet folder said something about the ant build eventually being phased out and the maven one being the reccomended build. Does the source ship with maven? I downloaded it myself just to be sure.

Wait, I'm not quite out the woods yet. I need to see
XDocletgui in action. Do I have to build this from source? Are
there any binaries available? If I have to build it, how do I build it?
NO binaries were actually released, but it shall be buildable from source. 1. You checkout everything ( module is called xdoclet-all, instructions on respective sourceforge page ) - subdirectories are xdoclet, xjavadoc , xdoclet-gui 2. Start your build from xdoclet-all/xdoclet ( it will build xjavadoc too )
3. Build xdoclet gui. YOu may need some shell script
downloaded a broken version/revision. Is the head
revision always garunteed to build? Do I have to back date to an
It shall build ( though I did not checked it lately )
earlier revision? downloaded the xdoclet-all module. Do I have to
build the entire project to be able to build the gui? Is there a simple way
that I can toy with just the gui? Must I use Maven to build any of this?
No. It will use maven automatically to create documentation though. BUt build is ant.
I know that's a lot of questions all at once, but am I over the line?
Can I ask another question? Just one more? Would that be one too many?
Do you want to shoot me now? Should I duck?
No I do not want to shoot anybody. regards,
