Many thanks for all of your help. You seem to be the only one on the list who sees me! Your idea was remarkable and I'm now in the final stretch of it's implementation. The utility is far from complete but it has enough functionality to solve my current needs. I have one minor problem with the XJavadoc API though. When I save a modified Java source file anywhere other than its origin it comes out truncated. This is a minor problem for me right now as I'm only interested in modifying the actual source and not making copies. It does a lack of confidence to my test process since I cannot generate a modified copy. I have other means of testing though (thank GOD for Idea's local VCS). Has this been reported as a problem?
Thanks a heap

Hello all,
I am working on a general utility to batch-update a
bunch of Java source files with deployment descriptor info using the
XJavadoc engine. I just wanted to make sure this isn't a redundant effort.
Also I wanted to make it know in case anyone is interested in helping.
Right now there's a little bit of code specific for my project but
there's no reason why this can't be made into a general utility for all to
use. I see it being practical for those in a situation similar to mine.
For example, you have a bunch of Java source that is not tagged and
descriptors that have already been developed and you want to move to
XDoclet without losing or re-coding the information already in the dds. Maybe
my situation is unique due to the fact that I'm new to EJB
development and I'm taking a silly approach. Anyhow, I was just wondering.
I'm not aware of such effort. But I think this could
be usefull for certain circumstances. No help from me though, I do not use ejb anymore :9
