I experienced a similar problem when working across operating systems. The problem was related to ANT build.xml and file separators.
The solution was tedious, but effective: I placed this type of statement in the build.xml file <echo message "build.deploy.dir = ${build.deploy.dir}" />

There are no errors, it just doesn't actually generate anything. Then I get compile errors because I depend on those generated files that do not exist.
