Nigel,
I just sent you the patches - however I think you are out of luck
when it comes to UDK. The compiler lacks support for a number of key
C++ features. Exception handling for one! I had a go at trying to make
Xerces-C compile with the UDK compiler and had to give up after a
number of frustrating days. Of course, your mileage may vary (but in
my opinion the UDK compiler is somewhat braindead and you will have to
face a rather big rewrite.)

A UnixWare gcc binary will be of no good if you want to link to the
library, and to the best of my knowledge there is no better UDK
compiler for unixware. SCO is apparently dropping compiler development
and going gcc (they are even dropping openserver/unixware and going
Linux with Caldera).

But there might be some good news after all this bad talk... Should it
not be possible to use XML::Xerces with a Perl compiled with gcc and a
Xerces-C compiled with gcc? Or did you mean you wanted to have a UDK
perl and a UDK xerces so that you could run on both boxes? Perhaps you
will get more useful input from the folks at xerces-p-dev? (I have not
used XML::Xerces as of yet so don't take anything I say in this matter
too serious). ;-)

Regards,
 Martin.
