The $XERCESCROOT/src only exists in the source package
(xerces-c-src1_6_0.tar.gz ), and such instruction should be for "Building the
Xerces-C++ library".  If you do not plan to build the library yourself, you can
skip that.

If you have downloaded the binary package (xerces-c1_6_0-linux.tar.gz ) and
wanna to build the samples, please jump to
http://xml.apache.org/xerces-c/build-winunix.html#faq-4,  instruction "Building
the Samples" directly.
