I meant to say if he's using a binary drop which had the library build with CC compiler and if he's compiling the samples of that binary build with gcc then it can give problems.

I just finished building Xerces-C (and the sample including DOMPrint) with gcc 2.95.1 on a Solaris 2.6 machine.
