FWIW - I think there's always a reason to do nothing and wait for the next big thing to come out. Maybe Sun will come though and maybe they won't.
One thing's for sure from my perspective, an HTML parser and associated DOM in xerces would unquestionably add a LOT of value. Another thing to note, OpenXML and Sun's stuff is Java based - a lot of people on this list are working in C++. Whatever path is followed, I want to voice my enthusiasm for C++ support as early as possible.
