Hi Alex,

Funny you should ask: we are at this moment in the process of getting a
new version of XML4J (3.2.0) put up on alphaWorks.ibm.com. This version
will be based on Xerces 1.4.1 with a couple of bugfixes (which are also in
CVS). It should be up by the beginning of next week.

Cheers,
Neil

Subject: XML4J releases

I searched through the archives and I didn't see anything about this...

It looks like the latest XML4J is based on Xerces 1.2.1, which came out
back in
October 2000. As I understood it, IBM further tests Xerces releases, and
picks
particularly stable ones to label with its XML4J stamp of approval. Does
this
mean that Xerces releases since 1.2.1 are less stable? Or that IBM has
stopped
making XML4J releases? It's nice to have an extensively-tested version to
use,
but I'd also like to be on a more up-to-date codebase. If I'm looking for
the
most recent stable version of Xerces, is there any reason not to go with
the
latest (1.4.1)? Is the current schema support considered fairly stable?

Thanks for your help!
Alex
