I've never been a great proponent of Adwaita, I actually consider it to be rather on the ugly side (inconsistent, looking half-done, plus the issues you talk about), IMHO clearlooks, while oldish, looks waaay better and it has **normal** scrollbars. On that note, I googled a little and it seems there is an unofficial port of Clearlooks for GTK3: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Clearlooks-Phenix?content=145210 Maybe we can try that? As for greybird and similar -- well, it looks great (and unlike with Adwaita, I can see the designer(s) had put a lot of effort in every single detail), but IMHO it's not very good for long-term usage by your average fedora user.
