About the ATi radeon cards, so does 2d work with all radeons in the current release of xfree86? A local PC shop is putting the computer together for me (cheaper than I could do it myself). In order for them to test the machine pryor to delivery, they will want to startx, but probably not do any 3d. They do not do much non-windows stuff, so I'm trying to make sure they are comfortable giving me a warrenty on the machine without driving them crazy with xfree86 stuff. I don't do much 3d myself right now so if I have to do without it for a month or so, I don't care. I don't want to use vesa framebuffer though or non-open drivers.
