An alternative to splitting the list up, which is presumably able to
be argued a mistake, is to instead have the authors of messages
to put into the body of their messages, some key words that identify
the topic.

For example, these could be the 3 keywords:
   * "X11-Output",
   * "X11-Input",
   * "X11-Core"

Those 3 strings fail to match all (or nearly all) messages. That was
also the case if "X11-" is replaced with "XFree86".

For the scheme to run well, members may need to get reminders every
so often on what the keywords are. If there is a lengthy thread then
maybe one of the author will put in the keyword and then subscribers
and bring up the 'spill/remainder' XFree68 folder and copy the
messages into the folder that supposed to be getting messages that
were of interest.

The keywords could sent out to members every so often (Mailman
list servers seem to send something once a month, or whatever).

Keywords can give an obviously better result than what could result
from splitting up the mailing list.

To split up the list would imply that it had been decided that
members can all-together their always-in-existence filtering option to
perform satisfactorily.

For one topic that won't give impressive results.

Bad behaviour of the mouse pointer due to:
 * bad rounding error after all rescaling but before converting to
   window-ized pixel positions, then the message might go in an the
   'Output' list;

 * or else to the 'Core' list if was required by some external
   consideration (breaks other software or XFree86 if data type
   changed).

 * Also, mouse problems are really input devices. But the protocol
   is unpacked and after that it is not obvious whether it is about
   input or output. It is in the middle where it could look like a
   thing for the Core mailing list.

This is not the developers list.

Maybe that Developers list could be merged with this one.
Suppose the developers added the needed keyword and the casual
users didn't. Then merging might not make much difference. Those
developers that forgot to put a keyword in might have a not-very
technical message that could interest users and be of less
interest to developers.

Also keywords would get genuine junk mail deleted (though there is
seemingly none so far).
