Hi.

Just a shot in the dark... could it be that your LCD is fuzzy when you start
up your computer with an external monitor hooked up? If that is the case try
to change your driver back to ati, unplug the external monitor and reboot the
machine (don't just restart X... you have to completely reboot). After the
machine boots up you can hook up the external monitor without any problems.

I have an IBM ThinkPad T30 with the same display adapter and I had problems
with it when an external monitor was hooked up to it at boot time. The image
on the LCD got fuzzy and very large. When I booted up without the external
monitor everything was ok on the LCD.

Let us know if that solves anything. If it does, I may be able to help you
out some more with getting it working with dual heads if you're interested.

I'd be interested to know if anybody knows what the deal is with the "boot up
won't work unless you don't have an external monitor connected" problem. Is
this a bug in the display adapter, the BIOS (in which case this message will
probably not help Jordi) or the X server???

Regards, Stefan.
