Hey all, Could somebody explain what happened here to me?
I installed FreeBSD 4.7 on a Dell Lattitude CPi, NeoMagic 2160, dockec in a C/Port docking station and an external(plugged in via the dock) TrackMan Marble+ mouse, XFree86 4.2.1. Everything worked just great except the pointer. The pointer was always a 1 sq. in. box that was the color of the background of whatever it's over. Trying different window managers has had no effect. I also tried issuing a few xsetroot commands to try to force the cursor to a specific style w/o any effect. I tried a different mouse as well as forcing different protocols in XF86Config(I originally had it set to any). Searching the archives I gleaned a couple of things to try like XCURSOR_CORE=yes export XCURSOR_CORE Nothing made any difference including running the XFree86 with the -configure option, the pointer was always the square that was 1 inch on a side(and for all intents useless). Then I undocked and tried the mice in the Lattitude's onboard external mouse jack. The problem was gone. I docked again, plugged the mouse into the C/Port mouse jack, fired everything back up and the problem is still gone.
