Xconfigurator originated at Red Hat. It was based on the original xf86config code. Over the years it bounced from one developer to another and ended up with a lot of spaghetti code, making it rather more and more unmaintainable as time went on. For Red Hat Linux 8.0, the decision was made to scrap Xconfigurator and write a new tool. The new tool is called redhat-config-xfree86, which by the way is indicated in the RELEASE-NOTES in the root directory of the CDROM, and also presented during installation. HTH -- Mike A.
