download the following files from 

  ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/snapshots/4.2.99.4/binaries/Linux-ix86-glibc22/

then, as root, run  sh ./Xinstall.sh

you should be able to use the default answer to all the questions you are
asked during the install (jusr press return)

Or    you could try it with the X Vesa drivers, but you would be limited
in your    screen resolution....
