[XFree86] legacy application - startup colormap

I am trying to use a legacy application on a Sun running SUNOS 5.6. I have been unable to get the startup window to load using any other X-windows host than a Sun. I get the same error message running a variety of X-windows hosts. My preferred implementation is Apple's version of xfree86.
