David changed the default theme from 'redglass' to 'core' just before 4.3 
shipped after I added support for the 'core' theme to the Xcursor library.
The idea was that 'redglass' was not a reasonable default theme, so we 
shouldn't change things until we've got a better default theme.

You can get the old behaviour back by editing the file 
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons/defualt/index.theme and replace 'core' with 
'redglass' (or 'whiteglass' if you prefer).
