Yes, it does look like the source glyphs are corrupted. I
see the same missing pixel in all of the 'o', for example.
Perhaps this is just an artifact of scaling bitmap fonts?
Do you have "unscaled" appended to your bitmap font paths. eg:
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled"
If not, see if that makes it go away.
