Hi,

Any XFree guru willing to sink their teeth int this mystery?

Summary of my problem:
I have problems with graphic objects that are moved on my laptop screen.
Widgets in windows that are dragged get red pixels around their borders.
Dragging up a selection box on the KDE desktop (and gnome, and any other WM
for that matter) results in some red pixels left on the desktop like
"pixel-dust". Same thing happens when dragging a window accross the desktop.
When scrolling on a web page, the images are sometimes filled upp with evenly
spaced lines of this red pixel-dust. It seems that the color of the pixel
dust depends on the resolution and ammount of colors. I have seen it green
for 32-bit colors.

What I want to know is:
What the heck can I do to fix this? What is the issue here? I know it CAN be
fixed because when running XF86 v 3 under Mandrake 9.0 there was no problem.
(assuming I was using 16-bit color, otherwise same thing). I have seen a
report on the internet of a guy running redhat 6.3 on the same type of
computer who fixed it by tuning the server somehow.

Unfortunately I am as of yet not very knowledgeable in terms of display
hardware and software, but I am willing to learn, I just need to be guided in
the right direction.

My setup:
-I have a trident cyber 9525DVD video chip,
-I dont know the brand of my 800x600 (245mm x 185mm) Laptop display panel,
-I am running XFree 4.(version that ships with redhat 9).
-My chip is correctly detected, and I have selected "Generic Laptop Disply
Panel 800x600" for my monitor.
-The default settings with 800x600 and 16-bit color gives me a properly
functioning display apart from the problem mentioned above.
-Im running RedHat 9.0 on a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S-4510.

PLEASE someone help!!!!

Thanks for reading!

+Zach
