I found the problem: line 4 in XF86Config
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "XFree86 Configured"
Screen 0 "Primary" 0 0
Screen 1 "Secondary" # <------
Screen 1 "Secondary" RightOf "Primary"
InputDevice "Logitech" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "Sejin" "CoreKeyboard"
EndSection
I did it that way because I'm sure I saw it like that in an example somewhere.
I think it was like that in an autogenerated XF86Config file made by 4.1.0.
Then again, I was using a broken graphics card at the time, so X somehow
spotted over a hundred screens!!!
Removing that line fixes the dual head/xinerama problem.
Thanks for your help.
Next up: DRI.
