I am newbie also. So only thing I can see that is obvious is that your
servers have to share some IP addressing space or the switch should know
the local IP numbers. It is not clear if the servers are on same IP?
64.0.0.1 and 64.0.0.2 or what ever class. The switch should recognise
the total ip space as local for you to be able to communicate.Since ping
is also not happening I suspect that this is the problem.

However If this is not the problem then you need to look at firewall
rules etc.

Lastly get to some linux help list you will find solution there.
