Hi forgive me if this isn't the place to ask, but I've tried nvidia help forums
with little effect (sorry if any nvidia people are on the list).

Running mandrake 9.1 on athlon 1.1, with kt-133 motherboard and a geforce fx
5200 ultra AGP.

When I use driver "nv" in the XF86Config-4 file it works fine (obviously now 3d
accel). However, when I use "nvidia" here, I just get a black screen (the
monitor flickers to VGA, but with no output). X crashes, but the linux machine
doesn't (I can SSH into it and see what's gone wrong). However, there is little
information to go on.

I've installed the driver (see the log at
http://www.monkeez.co.uk/linux/xconfig/nvidia-installer.log )

with this config -
http://www.monkeez.co.uk/linux/xconfig/new/XF86Config-4

which doesn't produce any errors in a log file.

I've made sure that my Bios is set so that IRQ points to VGA. I've also made
sure that the module is loaded at boot time in /etc/modules. lsmod shows that
the module is loaded. I've also tried using agpgart - which makes no difference.
I've also switched off plug n play in Bios.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.
adam
