Hello all,
Not many commits have been flowing in for a while now. Does the community feel that progress cannot be made? We have not made progress on getting 1.1 formally released, and I’m a bit disappointed. I feel like every one is just as busy as I am and we none of us have much time to contribute.
There are two patches currently in bugzilla. One for binary support, and one to decouple the hardcoded dependency on Xerces. I for one, do not want to see this project die out. I plan to start commiting patches submitted in the diff –u format to the CVS Head. Until we have a release plan, I feel that I can be liberal in allowing some patches to enter the main trunk. These particular patches have been waiting since 3/7, it is time to commit them. Sorry for taking so long Gary.
On that note, if anyone would like to help out, please tackle a bug in bugzilla, submit a patch in the diff –u format as an attachment to the bug, and send a note to the dev list with [patch] in the header. I will take a look and commit them. Please provide an updated test case for the problem, as it will help our development greatly. Don’t forget, if you would like to be listed as a contributor on the web page, to add your name in the xdocs before you make the patch.
I know this may be a bit hasty, but something has to be done. If any of the other committers want to chime in, please do so. I’m open to ideas on reinvigorating the project. I, myself, have just enough time in the day to visit bugzilla, apply a patch, and commit it to cvs.
Sincerely,
Kevin Ross |
