It's good to have choice - but it's also good to see resources pooled at tackling common problems. Guess it's too much to hope the best of both projects could merge at some stage?
Since both projects implement the XML:DB interface, I think more work could be shared. But the projects diverge regarding their respective licenses (GPL vs APL)
