Hi, i'm using Xindice since some time and i find it very good, but I'm
worried about it's development status.
In fact at the Xindice site, the last new is dated february 2003
(http://xml.apache.org/xindice/news.html) while the link to XML:DB api
(I know the are indipendent projects, but the two are linked somewhat)
is broken...
Anybody can explain me whiere Xindice is going on?

There are other better qualified than I to give a definitive answer to your question. Development of the product is ongoing. The Web site could, perhaps, use some updating though.
If you visit, for example, http://apache.247available.com/xml/xindice/ you will see that Xindice 1.1beta 4 is dated April 2004.
