Well, I resolved it as a textmode vs. binmode issue in Ecartis, I hate
windows because their stupid \r\n lineendings. I changed now every
fopen() to be either textmode ("rt", "rt+") or binmode ("ab", "wb").
Now all seems to work pretty well.
