Your server does have the correct DNS settings doesn't it? Have you put
hotmail.com in any config files? (it shouldn't be) 

If it still doesn't work, copy and paste the contents of your server.tab
file here so we can see it.

I'm going to bed now, long night, but I'm sure someone will pick up
where I left off.

ps. one other thing you could try just incase the index files are
corrupt is to stop xmail, clear the files in the tabindex folder and
then restart xmail and it will rebuild them.
