Hi.

For security reasons I've put XMail behind our firewall, & because of that I
haven't been able to set up so that outgoing mail goes directly to the
destination server - mail is passed to our Web host's smtp server & goes on
from there.

The outside server can't be set to accept smtp connections based on IP or
some kind of authentication; it'll only accept mail for relaying if the
sender has an account.

So I need this outside smtp server to be tricked into believing that all the
mail is coming from one user, as I want to maintain only one mailbox out
there.

I think this can be done in either of two ways:

1.
IF XMail can insert the one user ID into the "mail from:" command that it
issues when connecting to the other server.

2.
Change the user's e-mail address in their client to the id of the one mailbox
on the outside server, then have XMail insert a "From:" line into the
message, as I've noticed that if this is done the receiving client will pick
up this as the sender's address.

Can anyone tell me if either of the above is possible using XMail's built in
command structure? If not I guess it can be done with an external program.

Thanks in advance.
