Yes seems somethink is blocking the transaction.
- First verify that, on you Exchange server itself you allowed incoming
connexions on the smtp connector.
- Second, from the xmail server, try a telnet session directed to the
exchange ip on port 25, and see if you have at least a banner after
connexion.Try from the Exchange server itself to 127.0.0.1 and to =
exchange
normal IP (not exactly the same even if on the exchange itself) to see =
if
the block is generated on the exchange.
- If you get nothing at this time, seems somethink block you in the =
'route'
to the exchange server.=20
>From behind any firewall one at a time on the 'route' from the exchange =
to
the xmail (in that order) redoo the telnet test.
At each test, if the telnet session seems to begin, try to manually =
send a
mail to a exchange know mailbox (yours for example) with this sample =
list of
commands to confirm all is ok from connexion to final delivery :
 EHLO hostname.test.stuff.oldcompany.com
 MAIL FROM: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
 RCPT TO: <youemailaddressintheexchange>
 DATA
 This is a minimal test
 .
 QUIT
If all is accepted, when go behind the next possible blocker (firewall,
gateway, filter, ...) and redoo the test.

Doing so, you will find quickly where is the problem
