On my setup, SmtpServerDomain sets the domain in 220 greeting, not in 250
response. 220 is a generic Service Ready greeting, it's not sth specific to E
of ESMTP, but the wording in description is contrary to this.

As I already mentioned, it does not tell me if it's a setting particular to E
of ESMTP or not. Maybe that's why banner is chosen instead of greeting (see,
I'm trying to deduce things because the doc is so vague).
