I've been emailing back and forth with Act-Labs about the light gun and linux support.
The gun is hooked up to a box which you hook up to the VGA port and then run a pass-through to the monitor. It then hooks up to the USB port and acts as a normal HID mouse. If you press the trigger on the screen it sends a left mouse button and if you press it off the screen it sends a right mouse button. It will not work with a TV. Based on the conversations that I have had with them there should be little or no linux kernel driver work to do and some minor xmame input tweaking. They are having someone do the mame work for windows, but since the input and video code is not common between mame and xmame there might need to be some tweaking. It should be pretty easy to get it working though!!!
