Most of the ones that are out there work fine.  The original Microsoft
Sidewinder gamepads (non-USB) are particularly attractive if you ever want
to hack them up to use with arcade controls;  they have very clearly
marked solder points on the circuit board.  They're a bit tricky to find,
but dirt cheap.   The Gravis USB Gamepad Pro also works great.
