As I said, it is not finished. It is actually based on 2.8.0, because I do not 
have access to git from work (restrictive firewall I guess).

Yes, that is my view too. Although I had to do some changes to the original 
code to make it compile with msvc.

I will just wait for more feedback and use the second patch internally for the 
time being and I will not make further effort to finish the .c file version.
