Jerzy Iwon, of the Polish Ministry of Finance, asked if there are "any
efforts for implementation of XMLEDI in [the] taxation area."
Whereupon, my good friend Roger Trout, of Sterling Commerce, was good
enough to refer Jerzy to the Federation of Tax Administrators, where the
"states and federal government are working on some XMLEDI projects."
While I admire Roger's moxie, his plans for U.S. annexation of Poland
will probably be thwarted by the European Union's own designs. Which is
a good reason why Jerzy should do taxation EC the same way the EU
countries do it: presumably with UN/EDIFACT, an OECD recommendation.
