Do companies exchanging XML documents traditionally use SYSTEM or PUBLIC type identifiers to identify their DTD's? From my reading, PUBLIC would seem to be better from a performance perspective because it specifies a name that can be used to consult an alternate (hopefully local) repository first. This alternate repository is, I assume, specific to XML parser you are using?
