Since Federal law has mandated the use of the X12 standard for the HIPAA
transactions I seriously doubt that any effort should be expended in trying
to map them into an XML format. The HIPAA final rules for transaction sets
and codes was published 8/17 in the Federal Register. It is clear and
specific about the required use of the transaction format as well as the
data content.

Subject: XML Schemas/DTD for HealthCare Industry
Hello Group,
Are there any organizations/Groups working on
Schemas or DTD for EDI transactoins specific to
HealthCare industry. With the HIPAA legistalation, all
of the HealthCare industry should be ready to Receive
and Respond for x12 EDI Transaction 837/835 and
others.
Is there ongoing effort to have these EDI
transactions mapped onto XML ? Are there any Schemas
or DTD being created ? Do reply if anyone has any
information on these.
Thanks much,
-SvR.
