While it was nice that you attached the .pdf file of the Final Rules as published in the Federal Register, the result was the distribution to perhaps hundreds of people of an attachment taking up download time and file space. A better approach would have been to just send a message to this list with the appropriate URL to this document so that only truly interested parties could then download the entire document.

Hi Group,

I was wondering as to why , HIPAA mandates the
use of ASC X12, while the data interchange technology
seems to go the XML way. As this is a  recent
regulation , why not as well move to the contemporary
XML technology which makes it easier to integrate data
with enterpise applications.

And the other thing I would be interested to know is
the timeline of compliance.
